Federal Savings Bank, Bronx, NY

Provide support for new grade beam foundation system in existing 1-story building to be converted into a bank. Previous floor slab had experienced severe settlement.  A subsurface investigation found voids varying in size, as well as miscellaneous fill underlain by a peat and clay layer, underlain by a silty sand later. They concluded that the slab on grade foundation settled due to consolidation of misc. fill and organic material. The piles were installed to 25 tons with a Gehl Skid Steer.
